I was born in Geelong on 30 January 1961, the oldest of 3 children of, Italian parents. Growing up and being educated in Geelong in the Catholic tradition, I then moved to Melbourne in 1979 to attend the University of Melbourne to pursue a degree in Architecture. Living at Newman College for 3 of my university years I was fortunate to meet my now business partner and very good friend Steven Cortese. Together Steve and I set up an Architectural Practice in 1987, and now in its 28th year Baldasso Cortese Pty Ltd is a successful Architectural Practice operating in Australia and New Zealand, specialising in education, aged care, retail, commercial and residential projects.
I believe the best projects come from great relationships built on trust and integrity, and when passion and ability coincide, then great people can deliver great projects. This belief sets the foundation for my ability to draw on people’s strengths and skills to build an exceptional team of design experts.
I married Jolanta in 1986 and am blessed with a beautiful marriage and 3 fantastic sons, Mark 27, Ricky 25 and Daniel 22, each educated at St Monica’s Moonee Ponds and St Kevin’s College Toorak, and subsequently University of Melbourne each in the Commerce Faculty.
In 2015 Jolanta and I purchased a home in Highton and currently spend 2 days per week in Geelong and 5 days per week at our Moonee Ponds home in Melbourne.
I attended Holy Family, Geelong from 1966-1972, Chanel College, Geelong from 1973-1976, St Joseph’s College, Geelong from 1977-1978 and then went on to the University of Melbourne from 1979-1984 where I graduated with a BArch (Hons), Architecture.
