Does the College only enrol Catholic students?

Sacred Heart College is a Catholic, learning faith community in the Mercy tradition. We welcome all enquiries regarding enrolment for your daughter, with offers based on the following priority listing:

  • Siblings of students and daughters of staff members
  • Catholic student in Catholic school
  • Catholic student in non-Catholic school
  • Catholic student, baptised only at non-Catholic school
  • Student baptised into an Eastern Rites Religion
  • Non-Catholic student at Catholic school
  • Non-Catholic student at non-Catholic school.

The Principal reserves the right to vary the application of the above priority list in special situations.


When is the best time to lodge an application Year 7 enrolment?

  • Applications are accepted each year for students in Year 6 prior to the advertised closing date.


When will applications for Year 7 2021 close?

  • The closing date for Year 7 2022 applications is Friday 7 May 2021.


How many students are enrolled at Sacred Heart College?

  • There are 1,510 students enrolled at SHC in 2020.


What are the class sizes?

  • 26 per class in Years 7 and Year 8 and no more than 27 for Years 9 to 12, depending on the subject.


Does the College organise country bus travel?

  • Bus services are available from all areas as arranged by the Department of Education. Please refer to this Bus Safety brochure. You can find information on Bus Routes to school and Bus Travel Conveyance Allowance below.


What are the College’s start and finish times?

  • School begins at 8.49am and students are dismissed for the day at 3.22pm. Student supervision commences at 8.30am and concludes at 3.47pm.

Where do I purchase the College uniform?

  • Noone - Bellarine Uniforms, 162 Moorabool Street, Geelong.
    Hours: Monday to Friday 9.00am to 5.30pm and Saturday 9.00am to 1.00pm.


Where do I buy secondhand uniforms and books?


What languages are available to study?

  • Japanese, Italian and French.


Does the College have a First Aid Officer?

  • A dedicated First Aid Officer (Level 3) is in attendance at the Student Support Centre to administer first aid during school hours. All staff members have a minimum of Level 2 First Aid training.


Do Year 7 students receive homework?

  • Year 7 students receive a limited amount of home learning during Term 1. A Home Learning Policy applies to students in Years 7 and Year 8 to ensure their workload is not overwhelming.


Does the College have a laptop computer program?

  • Yes. On enrolment, all students receive a personal laptop computer. Many textbooks are now available on the laptop as eBook versions saving additional costs.


Do students need their own computer at home?

  • No. All students receive a portable laptop in Year 7 that can connect to your internet at home, and the cost is included in school fees. Insurance for the laptop is an additional cost.


Can students study at school at the end of the day?

  • Yes, the Learning Centre is open until 5.00pm Monday to Thursday and 4.00pm on Friday.


Does the College offer equity scholarships?

  • Yes. We are committed to supporting families in need and offer a range of equity scholarships to assist families with tuition fees. Please contact the College Registrar for further information.


Does the College offer extra-curricular activities?

  • Yes. Private music tuition, choir, debating, public speaking, sport, student exchange, language immersion programs and outreach opportunities are all available for student participation.

Conveyance Allowance

The Conveyance Allowance is a form of financial assistance for parents/carers to transport children to and from school. The conveyance allowance is available to eligible students travelling by public or private bus.
