Enrolments College Tours

At Sacred Heart we don't just educate the mind – we welcome, include and nurture the whole student because we believe exceptional learning begins with complete wellbeing. We recognise that a student's academic potential is deeply tied to their emotional and social growth, which is why we seamlessly weave care and collaboration into every aspect of our educational experience. Knowing that when a student feels safe, valued and supported, their potential for learning is limitless.

Developing the whole person – body, mind and spirit –  is integral to achieving learning excellence and overall wellbeing. Wellbeing is more than a concept, it is an active practice of fostering belonging, connection and self-awareness across our community.

Grounded in the principles of positive psychology, our targeted Wellbeing Program empowers students to thrive academically and personally. This program is integrated into the weekly timetable through three dedicated 30-minute lessons, each with a distinct and purposeful focus.

Voice and Mentorship

This session prioritises student voice and personal tracking. Students complete their weekly online mental health and wellbeing (Skodel) check-in, providing real-time data that allows the College to actively respond to their needs. Supported by Mercy Leaders, students engage in mindfulness, positive primers and connection activities. Simultaneously, Mentor Group teachers conduct individual learning conversations, closely monitoring each student’s academic progress and personal wellbeing.

Curriculum and Values

These structured, evidence-informed lessons are contextualised around our mercy values and the Visible Wellbeing SEARCH pathways. The curriculum dynamically addresses key concepts in social-emotional learning, health and wellbeing, Mercy Works and social justice, My Learning Journey pathways and Respectful Relationships curriculum.

Community and Spirit

Dedicated to building community and College pride, this time allows students to gather within their respective houses. House spirit is fostered through shared activities, which are further celebrated throughout the year during whole-school assemblies, feast days and House Cup competitions.

Growth and Development Philosophy

The Wellbeing Program cultivates a school-wide culture that empowers our students to build a positive sense of self and forge deep connections with others, establishing a profound sense of belonging, respect and inclusivity within their Mentor Groups, Houses and the wider community.

By actively engaging with our Catholic identity and Mercy values, students develop the vital emotional skills and resilient attitudes necessary to reach their full potential.

Ultimately, this approach deepens their appreciation for learning, allowing them to uncover their personal strengths, build academic buoyancy and confidently discover who they are and who they can become.

Visible Wellbeing

As a certified Visible Wellbeing Partner School, Sacred Heart is dedicated to embedding a sustainable culture of wellness that leads to academic excellence.

We recognise that wellbeing is dynamic and deeply impacts daily cognitive functioning. Research consistently shows that when individuals experience higher levels of wellbeing, they think more clearly, solve problems more creatively and have better physical and mental health.

'When we feel good, we function well' – Prof. Lea Waters AM PhD

The Visible Wellbeing Framework makes mental health a tangible, everyday practice here at Sacred Heart. It empowers students and staff to monitor their emotional health, whilst providing psychological tools to build resilience. By understanding how emotions influence learning and how different environments affect their headspace, our community develops the self-awareness needed to navigate life with confidence, thereby supporting the collective mental health of our entire College.

Through this practice, we are working to embed a culture of wellness for learning across the school and wider community.

Inclusion

At Sacred Heart, learning diversity is a living embodiment of our mission to uphold the dignity of every individual and nurture their unique potential. In alignment with Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools and Mercy Education Limited, we are committed to promoting gender equality, diversity and inclusion across all aspects of our operations. We recognise that these principles are integral to the prosperity of individuals, the strength of communities and the realisation of the common good.

Consistent with our Mercy tradition and Catholic teaching, we value the innate sacredness of the human person. We strive to create a safe, supportive and hope-filled environment where diversity is celebrated and authentic relationships are fostered. Grounded in principles of care, compassion and respect, our educational approach seeks to provide a formation of the whole person that is deeply and enduringly humanising.

Driven by the principles of Universal Design for Learning, the Inclusion Network designs accessible, high-impact educational pathways that affirm individual strengths, nurture independence and foster student agency. Recognising that student success relies on a holistic ecosystem, we work in close, collaborative partnership with students, families and both internal and external allied health professionals. Together we implement tailored adjustments and targeted programs that build academic skills, cultivate peer connections and foster overall mental and physical wellbeing.

This holistic commitment to our students is further physicalized in our Sports and Wellness Precinct – an environment explicitly designed to prioritise the health, safety and supportive care of our entire student body as they strive for personal and academic excellence.
