Our co-curricular and elective programs are designed to foster courage, build lasting friendships and ignite the passions that define a lifetime. At the heart of our community, we believe that education should be as vibrant and diverse as our students. The array of choices and opportunities provided to students is the training ground where character meets curiosity.
Our extended learning programme is designed as a scaffolded experience that evolves alongside the student. We recognise that the kind of support a student needs in Year 7 looks very different from the independence they will have developed by Year 12. Across all six years, our approach is the same: high expectations, genuine support and a clear belief that every student is capable of more than they currently know.
In the McAuley Years (Years 7 to 9), extended learning is structured and teacher-led. Students develop their study habits, organisation and approach to independent work within a supported framework. Here they build the foundations they will rely on in the Maguire Years. Homework and home study in these years are purposeful, set to consolidate and extend what has been learned in class, not to fill time.
In the Maguire Years (Years 10 to 12), students transition toward becoming increasingly independent and self-directed learners. The structures are still there as teachers are accessible, support is offered and our commitment to each student’s success does not diminish, but the expectation shifts. Students are treated as the capable young adults they are becoming and are supported in developing the self-regulation and resilience that post-school life will require.

Our Sports Program is built on a foundation of elite competition and universal support. We leverage strategic partnerships with Geelong Independent Schools Sports Association (GISSA) and Catholic Girls Sports Association of Victoria (CGSAV) to provide students with diverse pathways into high-calibre intersport competitions, fostering teamwork and a drive for excellence.
Recognising the physical and mental demands of top-tier athletics, we actively support the balance between school and external sport for our high-performing athletes. This ensures that students competing at a high level in sport can pursue their professional aspirations without compromising their academic growth.

Innovation During School
At Sacred Heart we also offer the opportunity for students to integrate innovation into their daily school life.
Innovation After School
Our commitment to future-focused learning is brought to life through a vibrant ecosystem of collaboration and technical exploration. The Design Futures Lab (DFL) serves as a premier hub where a unique group of students, staff, academics and industry professionals tackle engaging, open-ended, real-world projects in an immersive afterschool program. This space fosters a unique community spirit, allowing Sacred Heart and St Joseph’s students to collaborate on complex problem-solving.

Growth often happens when we step outside of our comfort zones. To support this, students in Years 7, 9 and 12 participate in a camp program. These experiences are designed to build resilience, strengthen connections and develop character for the transition into adulthood.

We offer a broad and accessible music program that ensures every student can find their place within the vibrant musical life of the College. Our comprehensive approach is built upon a balanced framework of rigorous classroom learning, an extensive individual music tuition program and a diverse range of extra-curricular opportunities.
Music
Pursuing the core premise that music is for everyone, the College hosts a wide array of ensembles that rehearse weekly at lunchtimes or after school. Our musical landscape is as diverse as it is inclusive:
If you're looking to explore and elevate your musical talents, we offer a personalised instrumental program. Conducted independently of the regular academic timetable, these private, one-on-one sessions are led by specialist mentors. We offer professional tuition across a diverse range of disciplines, including piano, guitar, strings, brass, woodwind (clarinet, saxophone and flute), percussion and voice.

We believe that belonging is just as important as learning. Our lunchtime groups offer students a welcoming space to connect with others who share similar interests, passions and experiences. The benefits of engaging in these groups extend far beyond the lunch bell. Research consistently shows that when students feel a genuine sense of connection and belonging at school, their confidence, wellbeing and academic engagement all improve. Lunchtime groups play a vital role in shaping a culture of inclusion and mutual respect.
Our lunchtime groups include Anime Club, Free to be Me, Jigsaw Club, English and Math Help Club, among many others. At lunchtime, our Learning Centre also offers a variety of board and card games to help students make new connections.
Whether a student walks in knowing exactly where they belong or is still finding their place, our lunchtime groups are here to meet them.
