Congratulations to Year 9 student Ella Zhao, who was selected as a finalist in the EMERGE Competition at LCI Melbourne. Ella’s creative work entitled 'Horizons' was a finalist in the Category: Visual Arts and Photography. Ella’s work was also showcased in the EMERGE Exhibition which was held in August at the Collingwood campus of LCI Melbourne, which celebrated the achievements of emerging young artists and designers from across Australia.

Ella describes her painting:
This is my paint on canvas named as Horizons. I painted this because I love watching the sunset with my family. I like being happy and I feel happy when I watch the beautiful sunset.
When I painted this a put a lot of thick paint on the canvas to make the clouds and the sun look bold and shining. The people in the painting are my family, and the birds are free flying above in the sky. I like watching the birds flying as well.
I like the sunset scene as it is beautiful and it reminds me that we just had another nice day. I know tomorrow will be nice again when we come to the horizons. When we grow up the horizons are always there.
