Our Year 12s were fortunate to be joined by Father Richard Leonard for their third seminar day, as they explored the many ways faith will help to guide them now and into the future. The day was divided into three sessions, with a contemplative Mass celebrated by Fr Leonard to finish the day.

The students gained the following knowledge from their day of reflection and prayer, which will hold them in good stead after their time here at SHC.

Making the best choices in my life in the light of faith

Christian faith offers us discernment, a practical tool to navigate real-life choices using Gospel values. Even when you have doubts or big questions, Catholic tradition uses faith, hope and love to help you figure out what matters most, make smart decisions and shape who you want to become after high school.

From Darkness into the Light: Making Good Choices in the Tough Times

It’s easy to feel connected to God when life is smooth, but what happens when hardship, loss or self-doubt hit? Based on the book Where the Hell is God?, this session tackled the tough moments when faith is tested. Our Year 12s explored how to navigate real-world struggles, make good choices during hard times and recognise a God who doesn’t abandon them, but will walk alongside them through the darkest parts of life.

Going Out On Mission with Christ

Faith isn't a private, feel-good club - it’s a call to action. As they finish school and step into the wider world, our students are sent to put their values into motion and live their faith out loud. But what kind of world are they actually stepping into? This session explored the big questions the world is asking of this generation, the doubts and hopes they carry as they move forward, and what it truly means to make a practical, purpose-driven impact with Christ.
