A message from our College Captains about the Make March Matter campaign at SHC:

Throughout the month of March, we celebrate Make March Matter - a dedicated time for celebration and advocacy encompassing several key initiatives, including Harmony Week, International Women’s Day, National Close the Gap Day and the International Day of Happiness.

As part of our International Women’s Day celebrations, we held our annual Talent Quest last Friday 13 March. This was a wonderful opportunity for students across all year levels to showcase their skills through performances that aligned with the 2026 Australian theme, Balance the Scales. Our performers, including various bands, singers, and songwriters, did an incredible job sharing their artistry during lunchtime.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to our panel of judges - Principal Anna Negro, Learning Futures Specialist Renae Pirrottina and Arts Program Coordinator Georgie MacLucas - who had the difficult task of selecting our place-getters:

  • 1st Place: Zoe Winiecki (Year 12)
  • 2nd Place: Lucinda Colquhoun (Year 12)
  • 3rd Place: Year 8/9 Band (Ellie, Ruby, Freya, Isla, Charlee, Gemma, and Saffron)

We congratulate everyone who auditioned and performed, making this year's Talent Quest such a success. Your courage and creativity served as a powerful reminder of the potential within our community as we strive to 'Balance the Scales' together.

In addition to the performances, we were proud to introduce a new initiative led by our Loyola House Leaders: the International Women’s Day Colouring Competition. We received a wide range of reflective submissions, each uniquely interpreting this year's theme. We are pleased to announce the winner is Sarah Lenehan (Year 9), who created a thoughtful collage encompassing the theme, which you can see in the photo gallery below, alongside images from the Talent Quest. Congratulations to everyone who submitted an entry; your creative contributions played a special role in our school’s celebrations.

Furthermore, our Learning Leaders have curated an inspiring new video featuring alumni of Sacred Heart College. The video highlights the significant contributions these women are making within our community and explores the female role models who inspire them, which you can view below. We invite you to watch and celebrate the lasting impact of a Sacred Heart education.

As we look ahead to the remainder of the month, we are eager to continue our Make March Matter initiatives. There are plenty of exciting opportunities still to come, and we look forward to seeing everyone get involved.

Kind regards,

2026 College Captains
