Sacred Heart College students and staff, accompanied by SHC Alumni Committee member Jaymee Calnin, had the privilege of attending the 2026 Bis Sport Breakfast at GMHBA Stadium, bringing together business, sporting and community leaders from across the Barwon region.
This year’s theme, The Value of High Performance Coaches in Regional Areas, highlighted the significant role coaches play not only in developing talented athletes, but also in strengthening the broader sporting ecosystem.
Students had the opportunity to hear from an inspiring panel of sporting leaders and engage in meaningful conversations. Panellists included Olympian and coach Lee Troop, Australian Netball Hall of Fame inductee Simone McKinnis OAM and Geelong United Pathways leader Megan Moody, pictured on the screen behind students Maggie and Matilda.
The morning provided valuable insights into the importance of quality holistic coaching approaches, mentorship, coaching pathways and access to current high-performance practices, particularly for our youth athletes.
This was a wonderful opportunity to connect, learn and reflect on how we can continue to support young people to pursue their potential in sport, leadership and beyond.
