AI for Conservation allows students to develop an endangered species mural for our upcoming Discovery Day, generating a future-focused moving image aligned with scientific climate data, imagining species surviving and thriving.
The Tiny House Project has our students designing and building a tiny house on wheels to donate to a community partner aligned with our Mercy values. The project integrates engineering, design, sustainability and service learning, guided by industry mentors.
In the New Materials Lab, students create recycled, biocomposite and grown materials, using seaweed bio-textiles and reducing plastic in textile systems through regenerative design. Students engage in hands-on experimentation across biology, material science and systems thinking, applying research to real-world prototypes and exhibitions.
The Oroton Upcycling Collaboration features our ongoing partnership with Oroton, whereby students redesign and upcycle deadstock leather into new products for Mercy Works and Product Design classes. During this process, they develop creative thinking, technical skills and sustainability awareness, learning how circular design gives materials a second life.
As well as these amazing projects, senior students have the ability to connect with industry leaders, attend field trips and gain mentorship in the STEAM Career Pathways program.
