On Wednesday 18 February, we entered the holy period of Lent when we gathered for our Ash Wednesday Liturgy. During the solemn service we received the sign of the cross in ashes on our foreheads, to officially mark the beginning of Lent and to demonstrate that we belong to Christ.
The day before we celebrated another special day in the Christian calendar - Shrove Tuesday, otherwise known as Pancake Day. As the final day before Lent, it marks ‘feasting before the fasting’, and we certainly did feast on delicious pancakes, complete with ice cream and maple syrup. From the smiles shown they were cooked to perfection!
