The 2026 TDU Social Enterprise Challenge Finals Showcase evening was a great success, with many families and students coming to support the Year 9 students who made the finals stage. Students were invited based on securing the most votes from Year 8 students at the recent Trade-Show, where voting was awarded in the three categories of Best Business, Best Presentation and Most Creative.
The following Best Business finalists pitched their business ideas to our guest staff judges Ashwin Pillai, Dani Storm and Helen Lazzaro:

Congratulations to the winning business, SafeDee from Siena - a group that focussed on designing products and a service to support women's safety. This group has won a $1000 grand prize to further develop their business idea and prepare for the Future Anything National Finals!
At SHC, we place a lot of importance on the Transdisciplinary Unit (TDU). It shifts learning beyond isolated subjects like Maths, Science, Humanities and English. Through hands-on inquiry, it merges these disciplines into a single framework, challenging students to apply diverse skills to solve complex, real-world problems. The structure of a TDU project is as follows:
