Our VET Music students have been diving headfirst into the practical side of the industry with some incredible real-world experiences lately!
Taking their talents to the stage, the students recently performed live at the Barwon Club for an unforgettable evening of live music. The venue was packed with energy, featuring an impressive variety of genres and plenty of enthusiastic cheering from the crowd. Stepping up to perform at a legendary local venue gave these musicians a fantastic opportunity to hone their stage presence, showcase their technical skills, and experience the buzz of a live gig firsthand.
Building on that momentum, the cohort also travelled to Melbourne for an immersive, full-day songwriting workshop at Collarts (Australian College of the Arts). Working in a creative environment, students spent the day diving deep into professional songwriting techniques and exploring the mechanics of effective chord progressions. Putting their new knowledge straight into practice, they spent the afternoon collaborating on fresh material within their bands and developing original tracks for their individual solo projects.
Congratulations also go to Year 12 student Zara Massey, who performed solo at Oxygen College for part of her VET Music assessment.
From mastering live stagecraft to creating original music from scratch, these hands-on opportunities are helping our young musicians build real confidence and industry skills. We are incredibly proud of their dedication, creativity, and hard work!
