Year 8 Outreach and Year 9 Community Project students, who are exploring environmental challenges, took part in an Urban Upcycle Geelong incursion. This hands-on experience taught them about waste management and how to repurpose materials to create practical, innovative products.
Students learned about the preservation of creation with a 21st-century spin. They were empowered to thoughtfully consider the impact of waste disposal and its consequences on our environment. Students were challenged to think of creative ways to repurpose waste materials into functional objects.
This enjoyable, hands-on program took learning out of the classroom and into our real world. The session empowered students to be agents of impact on our environment and stewards of creation. Students were encouraged to consider their individual impacts on the environment and ways they could serve creation. They also critically evaluated systematic effects on the environment, demonstrating their analytical skills, and considered innovation as a way of improving environmental outcomes for all.
This session sparked a deep reflection among students and staff about their impact on creation. It inspired them to take positive steps to protect the environment and advocate for greater care of our earth.
