Year 12 Final Day

Our Year 12 final day celebrations concluded smoothly last Friday. The day commenced with a formal breakfast, during which our graduating students were inducted into the Sacred Heart Alumni Association. Past pupils Tess Armstrong (2006) and Hannah Chalkley (Burchell, 2013) addressed the Year 12 cohort with words of encouragement. In the presence of their family members, our 2026 College Captains, Mathilda Garrido Lucay, Milla Jarman and Alice McLeod, delivered their final address to the College community before the Transfer of Leadership and Farewell Assembly. Throughout this week, our Year 12 students have continued to make good use of their study time by taking advantage of the revision opportunities staff provide during 'Readiness Week'.

VCE Exams and Graduation

The first VCE written exam, English, will take place on Tuesday 27 October. This 3-hour exam will commence at 9.00am. Our students' final VCE exam is Japanese on Wednesday 18 November.

We look forward to the Graduation Liturgy and Ceremony on Friday 20 November in the Sports and Wellness Precinct – Carmel O’Dwyer Centre, followed by dinner at GMHBA Stadium.

End of Year Assessments

Our students in Years 7 to 11 are approaching deadlines for assessment tasks and the start of End-of-Unit Exams. On Monday 26 October, families will receive the Student Progress Check (SPC) via email. This report provides a snapshot of student progress to date, with particular attention to study habits that support effective learning.

Parent Communication Afternoon

Families can meet with teaching staff to discuss student progress at the Parent Communication Afternoon on Wednesday 4 November, between 3.30pm and 5.30pm. If a teacher has requested a meeting via the SPC, I strongly encourage you to book a seven-minute appointment, either on-site or via Google Meet. We will email booking instructions to families once the system opens next week. To prepare for these conversations, you can explore academic work through CANVAS/Assignments, our continuous reporting platform. There you will find assessment results, teacher feedback and final grades. We encourage you to check this platform regularly for the most up-to-date information.

A Prayer for Year 12 Students Commencing their Final Examinations

Loving God,

As our Year 12 students begin their final examinations, surround them with Your peace, courage and hope.

Help them to approach each exam with calm minds, confidence in their preparation, and trust in the gifts and talents they have developed throughout their Mercy school journey.

When they feel anxious, remind them they are not alone. When they face challenges, give them strength and perseverance. May they remember that their worth extends far beyond examination results and that their future holds many possibilities.

Inspired by the spirit of Catherine McAuley, may they continue to act with compassion, kindness and integrity, carrying the values of Mercy into whatever lies ahead.

Bless each student, their families and their teachers during this important time.

Amen.
