Welcome to Term Four.

Year 12 Final Days and Exam Preparation

Our focus is currently on our Year 12 students, whose final classes over the next fortnight are dedicated to exam revision. In addition to regular classes this week, our Year 12 students attended their final Seminar Day on Wednesday and a presentation today on staying safe over the summer and beyond. Next week, we will celebrate the conclusion of their secondary education with a range of activities, including:

  • A staff Vs student dodgeball game
  • The opening of their Year 7 time capsule
  • A pop-up uniform op shop donation drive (with all proceeds going to Mercy Works)
  • A Colour Run
  • A final Mass in the College Chapel.

On Friday of next week, Year 12 students will attend their Alumni Breakfast, where they will be formally inducted into the Sacred Heart Alumni Association. This will be followed by the Transfer of Leadership Assembly and the Year 12 Farewell.

After the celebrations, students will move into readiness week. This week occurs after formal classes end but before exams officially begin (formerly known as SWOTVAC). Unit 3/4 staff will be available during their normal timetabled class times to help Unit 3/4 students prepare for exams. A full schedule of the lectures and support available has already been provided to all students.

Staffing News

We welcome back from Long Service Leave Kristen Smart, Rebecca Paic, Kelsey Marshman and Ahmet Atasever.

We also welcome Rebecca Perkins to the Sacred Heart staff as the newly appointed Padua House Leader. Rebecca joins us from Lara Secondary College, where she served as Year Level Co-ordinator.

Baillee Jones, who previously held the Padua House Leader position, has transitioned into the role of Targeted Programs and Interventions Co-ordinator. Other leadership changes for Term Four include appointing Oscar King as Student Engagement Co-ordinator and Nicole Crone as Learning Design Leader for Technology and the Arts.

Remembrance Service

The annual Remembrance Service for families who have experienced a bereavement this year will take place on Thursday 5 November 2026. We take this opportunity to remember and honour family members who have passed away this year.

The Remembrance Service will begin at 7.00pm in the College Chapel, followed by light refreshments and an opportunity to connect in the Reception Parlour. Family members are welcome to bring a framed photo of their loved one to place on the altar and light a candle in their memory. Please RSVP by Wednesday 21 October. Further details are in the Community Events section below.

Expectations and Punctuality

Despite reminders throughout Term Three, correct school uniform and punctuality remain areas of concern for a number of students.

The College maintains clear expectations regarding uniform, punctuality, respect, litter, mobile phone usage, classroom behaviour, interactions with staff (both inside and outside the classroom) and social media conduct. All expectations can be reviewed on the College website.

  • Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday: School begins at 8.50am (warning bell at 8.45am).
  • Wednesday: School begins at 9.00am (warning bell at 8.55am).

Arriving late means missing vital learning time. We will continue to address these matters at school, and I ask for your support at home. Please remind your child of our uniform standards and the importance of arriving on time and ready to learn, so our students can continue to become the best versions of themselves.

House Mercy Works

With Term Four underway, we now are entering the final weeks of our Term Three House Mercy Works campaign, culminating in our College Walkathon next Thursday 15 October.

In Term Three, our Houses have been supporting:

  • Clairvaux: We All Rotate, Nepal
  • Siena: ICFP Baucau, Timor-Leste – Education Support
  • Loyola: Indigenous Projects
  • Padua: ACRATH

Our partnership with We All Rotate in Nepal is a timely reminder of the importance of supporting communities in times of need, particularly following the recent flooding. We keep those affected in our thoughts and prayers.

We warmly invite families to make a donation to their child’s House Mercy Works organisation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps support the important work of our partners and provides a meaningful way for our community to Lead the Change, Be the Difference. As Catherine McAuley reminds us, We can never say, ‘it is enough'. Please click the links below to view the posters for each House, which includes the QR code to donate.

Thank you for your generosity and continued support of our Mercy Works campaign.

A Prayer for a New Term

Lord, as we prepare for the coming of a new Term, make us ready, attentive and available to hear you.

Thank you for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance that You walk through it with us.

Thank you for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness, and the energy to put them to good use.

May the work we do and the way we do it bring new hope, new life and courage to all we come in contact with this term.

Amen
